Encouraging children to read with Dr. Seuss

On Monday March 2nd, State Representative Christine Winger joined Wood Dale Mayor Nunzio Pulice at Westview School in Wood Dale, IL. They joined forces to read Dr. Seuss to Ms. Knopp's 3rd grade class for Read Across America Day.

"Dr. Seuss said it best, 'The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go,' commented Rep. Winger on her involvement in the event. "Reading is one of the most fundamental skills that a child must master to succeed in life. I'm delighted to be here with Mayor Nunzio to encourage children to develop a love for reading."

Theodor Seuss Geisel's birthdate of March 2, has been adopted as the annual date for National Read Across America Day, an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association. Geisel is otherwise know as children's author, Dr. Seuss. The event is designed to encourage children to read and learn.
