O'Hare Noise Resources

When the new runway at O'Hare opens in October thousand of new residents will be impacted by adverse noise. I believe it is important for residents to be armed with information so they can make the best decisions possible for their families. Here are links to resources to help you with decision making:

Soundproofing Your Home
For homes within the current flight contour the FAA and the City of Chicago offers sound insulation grants.
For homes outside of the current contour Rep. Winger has introduced new legislation to provide and income tax credit for soundproofing your homes. HB 4273 is working its way through the legislative process. Unlike a property tax reassessment, the income tax credit will not lower the value of your home and will in fact increase its value when sound insulation is added.

While the FAA and the City of Chicago have authority over all decisions regarding O'Hare airport including the soundproofing program, I remain committed to putting pressure on them through legislation and grassroots initiatives.
